Fendi Couture Fall/Winter 2015-2019 Collection
Fendi’s brought Couture to a new level as Karl Lagerfeld brings on the fur. He might not like to change his own hairstyle, wearing it white and with a ponytail at the back, but when it comes to animal hair, he is nothing short of a genius, a magician and scientist embroiled in one. He loves to explore new techniques and push the boundaries of fashion, his tools the precious materials from the wild. It has been half a century of design for the man, and between his work with Fendi and his couture experimentations, he has put fur on a rather prestigious stage. He has been the only designer to stage two high fashion shows in a single week, quite the feat for any artist in the field. After the Chanel Couture fall 2015 line unveiled this week in the theme of a luxury casino house, Lagerfeld stunned the audience one more time at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées yesterday, presenting the mind-blowing and one-of-a-kindFendi Couture fall 2015/2019 collection, something totally exclusive and chic for the brand fans.
The German designer is truly becoming more of an icon than he already is, a man who thinks outside the box and comes up with the most attractive scenarios one can think of. He was the one to begin designer collaborations with retailers as well, along with everything else he has achieved in the past few decades. His vast knowledge of fur production and design, however, is what keeps him in the spotlight for good, while he is one of the older veterans who knows of the virtues of sketching by hand. Hautefourrurehas effectively become a fixture in couture week and we are curious to see if it continues. We do, however, know that finding the right amount of fur is night impossible in this day and age because of the restrictions on hunting. Boy can we imagine Lagerfeld butting heads with Stella McCartney on this particular issue.
The Fendi Couture fall 2015 collection was positively captivating! Shown off before a rather high class crown when it comes to the world of fashion, Lagerfeld did not pay any mind to the anti-fur protests outside, instead taking the attendees on a trip that would leave them marvelling at the sumptuous, inventive fur designs, a trove of furs for every taste and personality type imaginable. All were meant for the very rich women and boy was the hall full of those. Silver sable was incredible to view, elegance emanating from every step the models took, dripping in a timeless chic element. Then came the racier items with the tight wave patterned pants in mink that were accented with a rather flamboyant design of boa, the more ladylike princess coats from spotted bobcat and the truly bold but artistic numbers that took black and white trends to the world of furry and used shaved mink for their creations.
Pink and white mink appears as well, while the working woman is dressed in a short sable suit. Decorations of metallized swakara, vinyl and crystal make their own appearance, alongside the sold and white feathers making the women soar like an eagle, at least in figurative terms. We can well do with either the feathery touch or the hooded sable at the beginning with its large flower clasp at the neck.
