How to make a cesspool?

Residents of private houses, dacha owners are faced with the problem of disposal of waste and fecal waste. Central sewage can not always be available, and for a comfortable stay it is necessary to solve the problem of cleaning, that is, to make a cesspool. How to make a cesspool? How to start?

Preparation for construction is a difficult but important point. The construction of the sump begins with the selection of the site. The cesspool next to the house should not be dug; however, unnecessarily long sewer pipes are not desirable. Consideration should also be given to the possibility of entering a cesspool truck. In addition, if the site has a well or a well for water, then the distance between the water body and the cesspool should be at least 30 meters. It is necessary to know the presence of groundwater and how they rise during the off-season.

It is necessary to correctly determine the volume of the sump. According to the norms for one person, 0.5 cubic meter is needed, but additional operating conditions often arise (clay soil, frequent use of water, oily waste), therefore, to make a cesspool with a margin. If there are 3 people in the family, then it is better to make a cesspool up to 6 cubic meters.

Cesspit construction methods

The cesspool can be done in two ways:

  • no bottom, that is, when the waste goes directly into the ground. Liquid will seep into the ground, and the solid will gradually be pressed. Then, upon filling, the pit must be covered with earth. However, this is not always possible to do. With a large volume of wastewater, groundwater pollution can occur.
  • sealed pit, which would require a brick, concrete, wood, w / b rings, used tires from heavy trucks.

Cesspit Construction

How to build a cesspool so that it lasts a long time? After determining the volume of the sump, it is necessary to dig a hole and lay pipes. When laying pipes it is necessary to constantly observe a slope of 3-5 degrees (4-7 cm per linear meter). It should be borne in mind that the longer the pipe, the greater the angle of inclination.

The cesspool can be made of concrete slabs, but for this you will need to order a crane. The best material in the construction of the sump is a red ceramic brick, which serves quite a lot and is not destroyed by moisture. The brick is laid on a light foundation, up to 20 cm high. The thickness of the walls is usually laid out in half-brick, between the ends of the bricks it is necessary to leave 5 cm gaps for filtering. So that the water does not erode the soil, the bottom of the cesspool is better to concreted.

It is possible to put a pipe for ventilation in the upper part of the pit and take it outside the site. Then the characteristic odors from the cesspool in the house will not be disturbed. A channel (# 12) is laid on top of the masonry, then the top is concreted. Above the pit must be a hatch or stove.

If it is impossible to dig a deep hole, and you still need to install a septic tank, then the question of how to properly make a sump in such conditions can be answered as follows: it is necessary to dig a hole wide, as long as the volume obtained satisfies the required amount of effluent.

Accumulation tank for wastewater

Storage tanks for wastewater are used in places where the use of septic tanks is prohibited, i.e. close water intake. You can install it on the ground, and you can hide it, having previously dug a hole for this.

However, these containers must be continuously cleaned from waste. For large families, these containers should be larger in volume, size, which creates inconvenience in installation and operation.
