This Schoolgirl Moved The Audience to Tears At a Christmas Concert
Remember whenLove Actually's singing sensation Joanne took centre stage at her school Christmas concert? A church in Northern Ireland experienced a similar joyful moment, when 10-year-old Kaylee Rogers was asked to sing a version of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah.'
Rogers, who has learning difficulties, moved the audience to tears when video footage of her leading the choir at Killard House School in Donaghadee was shown in a church,Belfast Livereports.
"Kaylee was supposed to perform at a carol service at First Newtownards Presbyterian church at the weekend but was unfortunately ill," her headteacher Colin Millar explained. "We showed the video of her singing instead and it's fair to say there wasn't a dry eye in the house."
According to Mr Millar, Kaylee is normally very shy, but that didn't get in the way of her powerful performance. She's also become an internet star, thanks to the footage of her singing going viral. Since it was shared on Facebook, the video has been viewed over 178,000 times.
Millar said Kaylee had "the voice of an angel," but he added that he was proud of all his students.
"The whole production of Hallelujah is really beautiful and it's just brilliant that these children, many of whom have learning difficulties and other issues, are bringing joy to other people with their singing." True Christmas spirit.
