What family is considered large?

According to the current legislation of Russia, the definition of which family is considered to have many children is established in each individual subject of the Russian Federation independently. This procedure was introduced in 1992 by presidential decree. The status of a large family is given to a family in which at least three children were born and raised, or adopted, and their age is not older than 18 years. In different regions, relevant laws and regulations governing this issue have been adopted in connection with the demographic situation of the region and in accordance with national traditions.

Anyone who is considered a large family in his region of residence receives a certificate for a large family. It gives the family the right to a benefit when paying utility bills and traveling in public transport.
