What is an analogue?

An analogue can be any object that reflects almost exactly any facets of another object. In the role of an object can act as objects, and concepts and phenomena. The correspondence is not complete, otherwise the compared objects would be identical, but they are so close that they are completely interchangeable. Therefore, the question "what is an analogue" can be answered that it is something similar to the original object, but not the same.

The use of the word analog

In what areas of life can we meet with this concept? It surrounds us everywhere. People often invent things that are very similar to each other, and many of them are analogues of each other. For example, this phenomenon is very common in medicine. You can find hundreds of drugs with a similar effect. Sometimes the composition of drugs is the same, differing only in name. In this case, we are talking about drug analogues.

This also applies to cosmetics, household chemicals, food, things and much more.

Analogs have different programs that differ in name and interface, but perform the same functions. For example, an analogue of the program Skype, created for communication on the Internet, can be called the Viber program, which millions of users have already loved. Analogs can be found among games and electronic devices, they are available from various technologies. Not everyone succeeds in inventing something fundamentally new, but the analogs created on its basis can bring enormous benefits to humanity.
