Which is better: LED or LCD?
Many who are faced with the question of choosing a TV are concerned about the question of which is better: led or LCD. By and large, both of these imaging technologies are identical. And, in the first and in the second case, between two plates there is a layer of liquid crystals, which, under the influence of current, change their position in space. Through the use of polarization filters, the light from the source passes through the matrix, either partially or completely. This results in light and dark areas on the display. Special filters installed in modern TVs allow you to see a colorful picture on the output. That is, the light source is the main distinguishing link of LCD and ice screens.
LCD displays use a cold cathode fluorescent lamp as the light source. They burn constantly and unevenly, therefore, the layer of crystals cannot block their light completely. As a result, we get a shallow black color, more like gray. This is a significant minus, though, imperceptible to many.
LED TVs use more modern LED light sources. Because of its small size, they can be positioned along the entire perimeter of the matrix, together with the light guide elements. Since there are many LEDs and they can be easily controlled by illuminating or obscuring one or another part of the matrix, it is possible to obtain a better image with excellent contrast. This color rendition is not possible on LCD TVs, by default.
Another advantage of LED is its efficiency, in terms of energy consumption, because LEDs need much less resources for work than fluorescent lamps. In addition, the use of compact LEDs can significantly reduce the thickness of the TV. The most important advantage of LCD matrices is their price. It's no secret that the cost of LCD TVs is slightly lower than that of LED models. Therefore, weigh all of the above, and determine what is best for you: led tv or lcd.
