What is cargo?
A large number of goods are still sold through maritime transport. As with any purchase and sale transaction, relevant documentation is required for transactions with goods. In the case of shipping there are special documents. One of these documents is the cargo. Let's talk about what is cargo and where else this word is used.
The word "cargo" has a Spanish origin. Literally means load, loading, therefore sometimes loading operations themselves are called “cargo”. But the basic economic definition is as follows: a cargo is a cargo carried on a seagoing vessel.
With the development of trade and insurance relations, as well as with the understanding that it is necessary to document market operations, the cargo has acquired several additional meanings:
- in foreign trade operations: any goods, in the documentation of which there is no clear precise name, or their place of loading is not precisely indicated;
- cargo insurance during its transportation.
