Where is Penza?
On the map
Somehow we have already talked about the Volga Upland, in whose territory there are a lot of large cities. One of them is the city of Penza. Consider where this city is located.
Penza is the capital of the Penza region and is located on the territory of the Volga Upland in the European part of Russia. More precisely, it is its center. Historically, the name of the city is consonant with the name of the river on which the first settlement, fortress appeared. Now the main river, which stretches along the bankscity, is considered the river Sura. Yet the diversity of the rivers flowing in the vicinity of Penza is striking. The river in honor of which the city received its name has also been preserved. In addition to rivers, there is also an artificial water body on the territory - the Sursky reservoir.
There are also elevations in the city from 134 to 280 meters, most of which are hills.
The vegetation on the territory of the city is mainly deciduous forests. There are conifers, concentrated on the banks of the Sura.
Remoteness of Penza from the capital is negligible. By road, the distance is just over 600 km to the south-east. You can get both by train and by road.
