Where is Ukhta?

On the map

Most of our country is in permafrost conditions, and therefore there are not so many regions that are comfortable in terms of climate. But even where, from the point of view of the weather, it was rather uncomfortable, people mastered new territories and life began. The country needed to develop not only new territories, but also natural resources on it, with which certain regions are really rich. You can say so about the city of Ukhta, which is an important point in oil production, and historically also the very first.

Where is Ukhta and what else is this city known for other than oil reserves? The city of Ukhta is part of the Komi Republic and is relatively young.

Ukhta is located in the central part of the region, where there are a large number of rivers and streams that make up the Izhma river basin. The terrain is largely swamped. Separate areas of the city lie in the lower reaches of the Timan Ridge, stretching for 900 km long. Most often here you can find coniferous forests. The climate is rather severe, and therefore the region is equal to the conditions of the Far North.

And yet, despite the climatic features, Komi remains a region, the nature of which attracts to itself, I want to look at its expanses again and again.
